Between July 2020 and November 2022, I ate 1,000 Tacos from 500+ locations across 8 countries, 8 U.S. states, and 10 Mexican States.
The project, if you can call it a project, stemmed from a random conversation I had while driving on the New Jersey Turnpike. A few highlights of the journey:
I ate 141 tacos in the first month, and my body started reacting poorly. As a result, I took a week-long break and slowed down.
Taco #204 was when I moved from LA to Mexico
Around Taco #600, I felt the project was going too quickly, so I stopped counting repeats. Only new tacos counted.
Taco #900 took 12 months. That’s when travel was possible again, so I started counting tacos from different countries. Ultimately, I had tacos from the USA, Mexico, Italy, Poland, Latvia, Austria, Czech Republic, and Hungary. All the tacos outside of USA & Mexico sucked.
Taco #1,000 was on my 31st birthday—Crunchy Taco from Taco Bell Cantina, Las Vegas (it was awful)
If I had to pick one “best” taco, it was a Castacan Taco in Merida, Yucatan called Wayan´e
I hosted a taco crawl in East LA. We ate 532 tacos in one evening and donated $532 to a charity called WaterDropLA, they “drop” water and other supplies to the homeless.

On July 16, 2021, I hosted the first (and only) TACO CRAWL of the year! This entire crawl was 100% outdoors & within walking distance of each other. East Los Angeles is home to food from almost every Mexican state. Best way to follow along the journey is via IG: @1thousandtacos.
